Our patron is the well-known scientist Dr Rhys Jones.
Rhys Jones is not only an esteemed academic, he works alongside South Wales Police forces in combatting wildlife crime. He is the Ambassador for the Wildlife Trusts of Wales, a Fellow of the Linnean Society of London and regularly appears in the media.
The first series of ‘Rhys Jones’s Wildlife Patrol’ (network BBC 1) attracted 12 million viewers and in August 2015 a new series began on the BBC.
Cardiff born Rhys is a lecturer in animal diversity and science communication at Cardiff University. He is also a conservation geneticist, evolutionary biologist and ecologist.
Recently Rhys has returned from a dinner (attended by Chelsea Clinton) held at the National Museum of Scotland with a cheque for £76,000 for Welsh Wildlife, donated by the People’s Postcode Lottery.
